Very yummy. I've constitute that putting the prepared batter in a drinking glass helps ease the process... it'south the perfect size tool to batter a hot dog!
04/19/2007
I loved that I could utilise good quality kosher hotdogs. Yous don't e'er know the quality of meat that are in those at the fair!! I precooked the hotdogs first in boiling water for vii min. I then let the mixture and the hotdogs rest for 10 min. I coated them with corn starch and the mixture stuck very well. Also, make sure your oil is the perfect temp. 365 degrees was perfect for me. If information technology is besides hot the exterior volition burn and the within batter will be raw. If it is non hot enough the batter will slide off. I love these because they are crunchy on the outside. Keen recipe!!!!
06/15/2007
Wonderful recipe!!! Curl your hotdog in corn starch first. Information technology volition prevent your batter from slidding off.
01/23/2003
Quick and delicious! Make mini's past cut the wieners commencement, and using the fry daddy. I may never purchase frozen corn dogs once more. Cheers
07/14/2002
I was really surprised when I institute out that I had everything to brand bootleg corndogs on hand. I substituted honey for the sugar and skipped the black pepper and they turned out great. I made some fresh lemonade to become with information technology. Perfect!
09/17/2006
Tasted great! My husband was raving!!! Dry the dogs before blanket and the batter sticks just fine. YUMMY!
01/07/2010
OK so I broke down with the healthy eating-1 solar day/week won't hurt. Made these to keep the family from revolting against me. They are slap-up-the recipe receives iv stars b/c the tips to make them came from a reviewer-I followed Keri's tips (she worked at a carny she knows these things) cold batter, dry out dogs and no pepper-perfect and I followed some other reviewer and put the batter in a glass so it would exist like shooting fish in a barrel to coat the dogs-GREAT idea. I added a bit more milk b/c the concoction thickened after information technology came out of the fridge. Will make again
06/23/2002
Neat recipe. They taste just like the ones at the fair! I had been searching for a recipe for these corn dogs for a long time and I finally found information technology. The batter is unproblematic to make and succulent. Thank yous for posting this recipe.
08/15/2015
I pulled out all of the stops for these. Used 1/4lb. dogs, made sure they were dry before dipping, used a tall glass to dip them in, gradually added milk to the concoction to brand sure it wasn't besides runny, added milk as needed to keep it from getting too thick. Definitely the best corn dogs I've had in a long time.
02/24/2007
Great recipe! We all enjoyed it along with some homemade onion rings also on this site! I did have some trouble having the concoction stay on, but I hadn't looked at previous reviews to see how to handle that and I'm sure I'll get information technology to work next time. :)
07/03/2011
This recipe worked actually well. I followed what another reviewer wrote virtually getting the oil temp just right (non also common cold or hot) and had no problem with the batter falling off. I don't take a deep fryer, and then I fabricated one-half sized hot dogs in a small frying pan, in nigh an inch of oil. What I noticed was that the batter wanted to flatten out, so as soon as the bottom was solid enough I rolled information technology on it's side and continued to roll them back and forth for a perfect looking corn dog. I added 1/4 cup of saccharide to the rest of the batter (after near x one-half hot dogs) and ended up with sweetness hushpuppies---almost cake doughnuts. Very tasty.
05/21/2009
At showtime I wanted to give these a 4 stars, but subsequently reading reviews I found out exactly what my problem was. The taste was great, only the next time I will let my concoction go cold before deep frying them. Make sure y'all dry the hot dogs off real good start. The kids at my church will accept a brawl making and eating these. Thank you for the recipe.

Here in the UK, we have never tried corn dogs but always wondered .... Well I don't know what they taste like when you buy them, but these were delicious! I was happier to exist able to choose own skillful quality bratwurst. They coating did cook quite dark like on some of the photos. I turned the heat down as far as I dare just there was no manner they cooked for 3 minutes. No trouble though, just heated through in the oven when they were all fried off. The only alter, I reduced the sugar a petty as we don't accept a very sweet tooth.
08/25/2012
Excellent recipe! My family LOVED them. In fact, they all said "no more store bought corn dogs". I read many of the reviews before I made them today. I fabricated up my batter last night but I used three tablespoons of dear instead of the ane/4 cup of white sugar. Since we don't eat pork, I used chicken hot dogs & they were succulent. I did melt my hot dogs ahead of time (boiled them for approximately 7-9 minutes - basically before they plumped up/burst -don't boil too long!) I did use corn starch on the hot dogs as recommended then the batter would stick merely in my opinion, as long equally the hot dogs are dried off adequately, this is unnecessary with common cold batter (besides recommended) simply feel gratuitous to use this method if you like. The best & almost useful tips I took advantage of were to identify the mixed batter in a cup (tall measuring cup for me) to dip the hot dogs in before frying (makes it so much easier, trust me (I tried the bowl method someone mentioned 1st, which is to place the dogs in the bowl holding the concoction & let them sink. This does NOT work well w/cold batter. You stop upward having to push button them downwards with a tool or your hands & it gets messy. Just spoon batter into a tall glass or measuring cup for dipping.) Lastly, the batter MUST BE COLD. It sticks improve and it so much easier to handle. Since I made my batter the dark earlier, it was nice & cold the next day already. If desired add a couple of tsp of cayenne pepper to your concoction for spice (afterward y'all make the ones for the kids!)
09/06/2007
absolutely succulent! My son told me that they are wayy better than store bought ones, and to never buy them once again. Simply brand these! Easy to make, but a chip messy. Worth it though. To make sure the batter sticks to the hotdogs, dry them with a sheet of paper towel first. Works perfectly, and no mess like when drying them with cornstarch(which I did the first time). I made half a batch, and information technology was the exact correct amount for 12 hot dogs (ane package)
10/03/2011
I've used this recipe virtually six times now and they always plow out fabulous. I found that patting the hot dogs dry and coating them in flour helps proceed the batter on. I put the batter in a shallow bowl wide enough for the hot dogs to lay flat at the bottom. I establish that I can get a more fifty-fifty coating of batter over the hot dog by laying i in the batter and letting it sink in for a few minutes while I'one thousand frying some other batch.
07/04/2011
Super easy! I don't know how you'd get 16 dogs though. Mine could've fried for 4 min. (at 375) because the dough was still a little raw after 3 min. I coated my dogs with flour as others suggested.
07/09/2012
Admittedly the best recipe! Followed recipe ingredients (only had 10 hot dogs though!), but used my deep fryer set to 355 degrees. I did follow other suggestions; put concoction in freezer, dried the dogs then rolled in flour - then put them in freezer while fryer was heating up. The batter is real thick. Had to make certain to drain most of the batter off before cooking -- batter swells a lot! Did not use the basket in fryer, just gently laid in ane dog at a time. They sunk! Had to be careful not to 'move them' once they were in the oil. The came unstuck from the lesser past themselves without breaking the outer coating. Did notice this out the difficult way with the first one! In one case they were browning and floating I placed the fryer handbasket on summit of them to go along them submerged -- that style they cooked evenly on all sides! Not merely do they look swell, but they taste slap-up too! Will never again be afraid to brand corn dogs! Will salvage me a ton of money considering my family loves these better than store bought!
11/10/2006
Only a notation to those who are trying to be healthy-- baking these corn dogs does not work! I think the batter itself would be great, and we didn't have any trouble getting it to stick once nosotros stale the hot dogs completely. I was hoping to avoid the oil and grease by just blistering them and they turned out with a strange taste and texture. If y'all really want a corn dog, my advice would be to definitely fry them like the recipe calls for :)
05/02/2009
Yum! I'thousand way to old to exist peckish corn dogs, just my appetite got the best of me and I craved a corn dog for 3 days. With no local fairs planned for a few months, I tried this recipe. PERFECT!!! Delicious and just the correct amount of batter. A few tips: (i) Dry the hotdogs using paper towels prior to dipping to remove all moisture, (2) make sure the oil is not to hot, (iii) cascade the batter into a tall glass prior to dipping, which will requite information technology that perfect corn domestic dog shape! I have a gas stove, and these were done in 4 minutes (and the batter was washed and the hot dog hot!), but your mileage may vary. We used Johnsonville Cheddar Cheese & Jalapeno Sausages, and they were AWESOME. Fun, easy to make, and tastes better than any corn dog you can buy.
06/21/2009
Great corn dog recipe! I used cocktail size franks, not the sausage blazon links, only the hotdog type. I used toothpicks instead of the "wood poles" used for regular size franks. Also, I used peanut oil to fry them. These were a big hit with our crowd. They were seize with teeth-sized and succulent. I've really never tasted a amend corn dog. Many thank you!
10/06/2009
Fantastic! I was one-half way through mixing everything when I realized all I had was soy milk (eww) information technology still turned out great! Super light batter with merely the right crispiness--- Add yellow mustard and mmmmm!
06/21/2010
used all beefiness frankfurters. the taste was okay. it wasn't crunchy though. peradventure next time i will fry it longer and add some spices like cayenne pepper or red pepper flakes to the mix
11/12/2010
I fabricated these exactly as the recipe stated and they were awesome! I had never made homemade corndogs before and they were such a sure-fire. I followed the recipe exactly as stated (with the exception that I omitted the blackness pepper because my husband doesn't like it) and had no problems at all. It only fabricated 13 for me, though. I didn't roll them in flour every bit some readers suggested, I simply stale each hotdog off with a newspaper towel and and then rolled it in the concoction. It stuck! My kids were begging for more than. I thought these were amend than the state off-white corndog I had dorsum in Baronial!!
04/29/2006
My kids loved the thought of mommy making home made corn dogs. They liked them better than the store bought ones. One hint: if the concoction isn't staying on the dog then the oil isn't hot plenty. I had that problem :)
09/27/2011
This is the all-time corn domestic dog recipe we have tried so far. Instead of adding the milk substitute it with cream style corn. Then I proceed a tall glass full of the batter and but dip the dog right down in information technology. As well before dipping I roll the dog in corn starch outset, this helps continue the concoction on the dog. Were not big on deep fried foods but this recipe volition make me pull the deep fryer off the shelf someday. I'll put these corn dogs up confronting any fair nutrient anytime!
09/26/2003
This is sooooo skillful! I put the hot dogs in the microwave for nearly thirty-45 seconds apiece and then rolled them in some flour which seemed to assist the batter attach. They were delicious!!!
03/27/2011
When I go set up to make these I realized I had no cornmeal!! But I had a box of Jiffy corn muffin mix! And then I added mix which wa 1 1/ii c I added 1/2 c of flour and no baking pulverization considering it already had! I followed recipe otherwise!! These turn out bang-up! My family loved them!
03/05/2002
GREAT recipe. This was really easy to make. I used 2 eggs and I did half a batch of veggie dogs, and half a batch of turkey dogs. They both turned out beautifully. A++
08/04/2012
Let me say, I loathe corn dogs. Usually. I have never made them at abode. I accept never had a carnival corn domestic dog because I've but had the frozen ones from the grocery store and so I'd just stay away from them. Yuck. I am 7 mos pregnant and had a very strange craving for said item. Make my own popped into my head. Maybe they'll be different. Without a doubt, the best ever. Gosh they were so expert. I left out the pepper and I did refrigerate the concoction. I think it is important the batter is common cold. While I couldn't outright dip the dogs, it was piece of cake, albeit messy, to glaze the dogs with my fingers. Batter stuck perfectly. I noticed that when the batter warmed up, it became runny and was getting more than difficult to piece of work with. I would definitely cool the concoction. Next fourth dimension I will skip the tip of putting it into a loving cup/jar since I had to apply my hands anyway. But what a corking idea!
09/15/2006
Oh my goodness!!! I've finally found it; the perfect corndog recipe. This takes me back to the county fair and the batter is nice and thick and sticks well(as long every bit you brand sure the dogs are expert and dry commencement). This is definately a keeper, the kids are insisting I make it once again this evening and they don't have to twist my arm.
04/sixteen/2011
I have no clue what everyone is talking about when people said the batter is as well runny, information technology was thicker then annihilation I had to deal with. dusting the hot dog with flour just made the concoction non stick to the canis familiaris even more, I had to dry the dogs first. The batter texture is a four stars...the taste is a sure five! more then a 5, I did add together a flake of chili powder just for a fleck of a kick. These DID NOT concluding long! My married man and son DEVOURED them, and left me one so I can critic! lol they admittedly loved them! This recipe is a definate keeper, I just gotta figure out how top make this batter a fleck more runny
05/23/2009
Yep, just like everyone has said: these are only like you go at the state fair! I had batter left over, so I thickened it with some more flour and corn meal and dropped it by spoonfuls into the hot oil. It fabricated some yummy corn fritters!
12/17/2010
SUPER SUPER piece of cake. Bought bamboo skewers from Walmart. They were pretty long and that worked great for putting the hot dog on them just not for frying them. I ended upward cut them off with a very sharp knife after the hot dog was on. Then dilapidated hot canis familiaris and threw dog and skewer in oil. Served these with cheesy tater tots (melt tater tots then shred cheese over them- back in the oven for a minute). Kids said they were much better than Sonic as they were very moist- Sonics are drier.
x/24/2001
This recipe was real good. I printed out the recipe for one/2 the amount, simply should of printed it out for the whole amount. When I cook the corndogs, anybody loved them. Thanks for the good recipe.
04/29/2012
This recipe is awesome! The only difference was I used buttermilk in place of the milk. Very good corndogs indeed!
11/17/2009
Whoa!! I was CERTAIN that this would accept been a disaster but boy was I wrong! Used exact ratios except fabricated mini corn dogs....without skewers.....using lil smokies (without nitrates). Oh my....these were soooooooo good! (oh yeah) I tested ane without start dredging hot dog in flour and though it did ok, I prefer dredging first. Made the concoction stick more consistently.
05/26/2011
I'thousand a vegetarian and used to love corn dogs, I found a poly peptide- hot dog like- substitute which worked perfectly. My beau and I loved this recipe so much, we plan on making it again! Likewise we cut the dogs up into v-half dozen pieces, then breaded, then fried.... soooo adept bite size! :)
12/08/2010
We used this recipe and sold corn dogs at our local festival. Nosotros had customers come back and tell u.s.a. that they were the best corn dogs they ever tasted. Some people even bought more. Cha-ching!
06/28/2012
This corndogs are perfect! best ive ever had. I eddy the hot dogs outset for a bit and then dry them with a paper towel, and i roll them in flour and then the mixture sticks! oh and also i cut them in half they expect much cuter! amazin recipe
11/21/2010
I really enjoyed the batter to this recipe. It was really tasty. Everyone in my family liked it besides. I took the advice of the residue of the reviewers and stale the hot dogs and rolled them in flour before dipping them in the concoction. It stuck really well. I will probably make this once again.
08/13/2009
Perfect. I recollect my days of buying store-bought corn dogs are over. These are so like shooting fish in a barrel and cheap to make!
09/27/2009
My son'due south birthday is around fair time here in New Mexico and our favorite thing to get at the country fair is green chile corn dogs! We did get 1 at the state fair, only and then his birthday came up and he requested light-green chile corn dogs for his birthday dinner. Well, I establish this recipe and omitted the black pepper and added i/2 c. of chopped New Mexico green chiles! We loved them and my son and married man thought these were manner better than the ones we get at the fair! Cheers for this yummy and easy recipe!!!
05/thirteen/2012
WOW!! These came out Great!! followed the recipe verbal except I left out the pepper. I did cook the dogs for about 5 minutes before though only because they are ball park and I was afraid they would "plump" when I fried them. I had no problem getting the batter to stick to the dogs. I merely dried them off real well. I did put the batter in the fridge for virtually 30 minutes before I dipped and fried. They don't sense of taste exactly similar Fair dogs, but they certain do come close!! I cheers and my hubby and kids thank yous for such a wonderful recipe!! :)
08/26/2009
Cracking, neat recipe! These are fifty-fifty expert to freeze and reheat...really, they sense of taste ameliorate that way if you get out the recipe equally is. The first batch were proficient, but when they're fresh they're a little grainy considering of the corn meal, so I cut the corn repast to 3/four c and added 1/iv cup corn flour, took out the pepper - it actually isn't necessary at all, and added 1 tbsp honey in with the milk and sugar. (If all you have is self-rising flour, y'all can use that too - merely omit the common salt and blistering powder.) Then I dried the hot dogs well and rolled them in flour just to be in the safe side. The batter works all-time when it's REALLY cold - I mixed it up and stuck it in the freezer until information technology simply started to get icy around the edges, stirred information technology up really expert, and started dipping. I likewise used a direct drinking glass to dip the hot dogs. As far as cooking, I held them vertical in the oil until the batter puffed up, and then let them float, turning constantly. The batter isn't super-thick like the ones you lot get in the grocery store, and even when they turn dark brown and you recall you've burned them, they're nevertheless soft and fluffy and absolutely wonderful!
05/24/2010
I took the advise of some other viewer and put the concoction in a tall drinking glass and it worked corking. These were and so good, my family ate them all up! They have just the right amount of sweetness to the batter. Thanks for sharing.
12/29/2011
These are and then good! But like at the off-white. I add a little dearest for extra sweetness. Easy & Delicious!
08/12/2009
This is a bang-up recipe! My kids loved it and ate 3 each. Every bit per the other suggestions, I tried to dry out them with paper towels, and the batter adhered a petty meliorate. Then, I stale them, then rolled them into flour and that did the trick. Yeah, it does make a lot of batter. Y'all can easily cut it in one-half (using the whole egg). I took the left over concoction, added some more than flour and corn repast (-eye balling information technology to make a thicker dough) and and then some minced onion, one/two t common salt and 1/iv t pepper more to the batter and made hush puppies. The kids accept already asked if they can be fabricated again.
01/thirty/2012
Splendid! I halved the recipe and made 5 corn dogs. Likewise poured concoction into a glass to dip my turkey dogs in. Used popsicle sticks instead of skewers.
12/twenty/2008
THIS IS SO DELISH,I WILL NEVER Buy CORN DOGS AGAIN.
02/07/2003
These allocate as better than store-bought simply not quite equally adept as those once-a-year indulgence carnival version corn dogs. Never once again volition I buy shop-bought corn dogs again! I halved the recipe and followed reviewer "MONNIEK" advice...made these into mini corn dogs and non using the skewers. Turned out very good. Thank you Suzzanna for being then creative and and then sharing information technology with the remainder of us!
06/26/2011
Excellent recipe, we went to a local fair and I Actually wanted a corn domestic dog, but didnt want to expect in line for 1/2 hour for one. Came domicile and fabricated this recipe, came out even better than I could have hoped for. I did do the half dogs since I was using a fry daddy. Likewise used the concoction to deep fry mozzarella and cheddar cheese cubes, they were almost better than the corn dogs!
03/12/2010
I tried this recipe because I tin can no longer find Morningstar Farms corn dogs (my family unit is vegetarian). So I bought some SmartDogs, made this recipe, and now have a family unit of ADDICTS!! Thanks for the recipe!
06/22/2011
These were actually accurate! My kids loved them! I made them for dinner and again later that week for luncheon! Crawly! Thank you for sharing!
08/22/2009
I followed the recipe exactly and while I enjoyed them I felt like there was too much corn in the concoction (I didn't want to feel every bit much of the corn equally I did). Next time I might cut downward in the corn and I'll also permit the batter sit for awhile before using it to run across if that helps.
05/21/2013
This so far is the best recipe I accept establish, only I did have to modify it immediately. First, it calls for i cup of milk. Concoction was manner to thick. So I had to add together an additional ane/2 cup and and so thru out the fry another tbsp every now and then to keep it like shooting fish in a barrel to coat. I didn't take any white sugar and so I substituted brownish instead and liked it, altho adjacent fourth dimension I think I will try honey. Lastly instead of the salt it called for I used one full tsp of my homemade house seasoning for extra flavour. I likewise heated my hotdogs up but as another reviewer suggested I did brand sure the outside was completely dry earlier dipping them. I didn't even need to employ flour or cornstarch to brand the batter stick. It coated easily and stayed on while frying. They were then good! Fifty-fifty my picky kid who normally hates corndogs ate 2! Thank you then much for posting this recipe!
04/19/2011
Admittedly perfect. I 1.5x the recipe, so we used 2 whole eggs instead of ane.5 eggs. These could not perchance have been improve. I got rave reviews from absolutely everyone who ate them, including the vegetarians eating their veggie corndogs!
12/01/2010
Big Thumbs upward from the whole family and even the kids I babysat! I actually establish the batter easier to piece of work with when it wasn't ice cold, when the concoction was really cold it seemed even thicker
04/05/2010
My husband and 13 year old son just made these for dinner tonight....YUMMY!! Did not change a thing...used the tip from the reviewer who said to dry the hotdogs off before coating them. They were terrific with a dearest mustard dressing we also found at AllRecipes. Thanks!
01/18/2007
These turned out perfect. My thirteen yr. quondam daughter thought I was crazy for making bootleg corn dogs, merely later on she tried them she wanted to know when we were having them again. No more shop bought corn dogs for this family unit.
09/21/2010
My family loved these!! I cooked the dogs slightly first just everything else was to the letter. I had no bug with the batter coming off. Brand sure that your oil is dainty and hot.
08/eighteen/2004
With a few changes due to the ingredients I had on hand these were really corking. To the dry mixture I added baking soda and to the wet I eliminated the egg, used buttermilk and threw in a can of creamed corn. Pouring the mixture into a glass made it much easier to dip the dogs, simply delight make sure you glaze your them with the corn starch or the batter will skid correct off. Our deep fryer worked wonderfully, withal, after the franks were out I asked married man to re-dip and fry again to give them a dainty thick and crispy coating. They were great Suzzanne and happily much like nosotros recently had at our Northward.J. State Off-white!!!
10/07/2009
I made the batter the dark before and the side by side day it was a little also thick for me to apply on the hotdogs. I added a footling more than milk and got a creamy mixture. Afterward that it was smooth. These corndogs was a great treat for my hubby and my kids and I for one volition never buy another frozen corndog again. This is way cheaper and healther to make information technology yourself. Will make it once more and over again.
09/06/2010
I made these for my fellow, and he loved them. I tried a bite, and adjacent time I won't add salt to the concoction, because the franks we used were salty enough. I didn't have any problem getting the batter to stick after rinsing and drying the hot dogs. Luckily, I forgot to halve the recipe for eight dogs, considering this was only plenty batter for eight plus an experiment frying a piece of pepperjack cheese (would have been improve with cheddar).
06/15/2011
Make sure batter isn't too thick. Water ice common cold batter for dipping.
01/12/2014
These were the best bootleg corndogs I've ever made. The batter stayed on the dog when I dipped them, and when I fried them. Information technology also kept a nice shape while frying and didn't run down the sides. They looked and tasted great! Give thanks-you!
02/02/2011
These are super piece of cake and super yummy. My kids honey them. I do have a hard fourth dimension getting the batter to stay on. Information technology also does not come out looking equally pretty equally I would like! Definitely a keeper. Thanks for a cracking recipe!
09/05/2009
YEEHAW!!! I can now make corn dogs! Everyone loved them. I did the drying them before coating....I had to add together more milk because information technology was using too much concoction....one time I got the texture down, they looked just like the country off-white dogs!! Great recipe, thank you!!
05/19/2010
Cracking! Added 1 one/2 tablespoons of dear. Deep fried 365 degrees for 3 minutes. Terrific!!!
07/14/2011
Yum, I would do this once more. I had alot of fun with my 3 year erstwhile making these. Next fourth dimension I will follow other reviewers suggestions and dry the hot canis familiaris off, and ringlet in flour before dipping. I did have some problems with the batter sticking.
11/x/2004
These were very adept. Volition keep this recipe. My 4 yr onetime LOVED them. I cut lite hot dogs (hey- - -it has to aid some!) in half and dipped them in the batter. They fried upwards similar mini corndogs. Of form, my son had to stick a stick in them to eat them, but that was no trouble after they were cooked, and it was easier to fry with no skewer. Besides tried mozzarella cheese stick sections--good, but a niggling sweetness for that.
10/26/2006
i've tried others, and truly this ane is the best. i too cut them in half, then dipped into batter to fry. my get-go half turned out perfectly, only, then my batter started to sideslip off. i recollect, and i may be incorrect, but adjacent time, i'm going to make sure i'm not dipping anything other than a clean utensil, into the batter to choice up the dogs. that fashion, the batter stays clean also, when the oil cools downwards due to cooking, the batter slips so make certain y'all don't cram too many dogs into your oil. our new favorite corn dog recipe - thanks!
08/28/2002
Kids and Grandkids loved these corn dogs, said they were the best they have e'er had. I really liked them too, they didn't seem as greasy as a lot I have tried. Fast and easy recipe too. Had all ingredients in the house.
08/11/2011
Nosotros Honey this recipe. It's perfect just like at the fair!
04/eighteen/2010
I thoght they were really good but if y'all use the 6th serving recipie use 2 tablespoons more of flour because the coating was runny, but other than that they were really skillful.Besides don't put the skewers in until they've finished cooking.
07/17/2008
Wow! Nutritional slumming at its all-time. These were perfect. I used foster farms turkey franks and the only thing I would change would be to cut the milk downwards to 3/4 loving cup considering my batter would slide off the dogs, as well moisture.
06/25/2010
I Beloved this recipe! I have made it multiple times for my husband and male parent and they LOVE information technology besides! They sense of taste just like carnival hot dogs, but Better! Make THESE if you are looking for an excellent recipe!!!
11/10/2010
Huge hit with the kids! I fabricated this concluding night and everyone gobbled it up. I fabricated the batter one hour ahead of fourth dimension and popped it in the refrigerator. It allowed information technology to thicken up and was easier to work with. Per some other recipe I read, I replaced milk with a cup of cheap beer (booze cooks off). Will apply this recipe again and once more.
02/03/2009
These were the all-time corn dogs we ever ate-very yummy and improve than the ones yous get at the fairs!
04/eleven/2012
My 4 year old had a great time helping prepare and consume these! Had a quiche in the oven, wanted to make something that she'd really like. It was perfect! Nosotros had everything on hand. I recalculated the recipe to 2 and they came out perfect. Wouldn't change a affair

Amazing!!!! this is my second time making corn dogs, but these are mode better than the ones i'd tried before. I was a scrap hesitant at get-go. You lot can't have corn dogs in my country and my mom is such a picky eater when it comes to endeavour new dishes ....but this was a striking!!!! She'southward still raving about them, lol. Fabricated mini corn dogs and coated them in cornstarch earlier dipping into the concoction. Definitely a keeper!! Thanx for the recipe Suzzanna!

I never knew that making homemade corn dogs would be so easy or so yummy. I cut my wooden skewers and hot dogs in one-half so that they would fit in my skillet. The only trouble I had was getting the concoction to stick, even though I did toss them with some flour beginning. It just took a niggling extra work to shape the batter around the canis familiaris. I only had 4 hot dogs, so that left a ton of batter. This fabricated some fantastic hush puppies - past adding diced peppers, onion and shredded cheddar cheese. Drib by spoonfuls into the hot oil and they flip over when done on the bottom. Delicious!

These are great! I had never made homemade corn dogs before, and these are better than store bought corn dogs and they are easy to make. Thank you for a bang-up recipe.

These were Nifty! The kids just loved them! I was lucky to even get to try them! The best part was I could brand them out of quality all beef hotdogs instead of merely the junk that is available in the stores!

Wow these taste like the real affair! I recently made these for an outdoor pic nighttime. I used the mini "smokie" weiners for bite sized snacking. I was able to use 1 1 /ii packages of weiners for the written recipe. These went faster than I could fry them. Luckily I ate a few while making them or else I wouldn't have gotten 1 otherwise. Thanks for the great recipe!!

This recipe wasn't every bit fabulous as other reviewers claimed it to be. Although it was a good recipe, it doesn't deserve 5 stars. I definitely recommend humid the hot dogs commencement to ensure they are thoroughly cooked prior to frying. Although I don't experience it is necessary, you can coat the hot dogs in cornstarch prior to dipping in the batter (I did, only I don't believe it made a difference - and then long as y'all dry out the hot dogs properly).

Admittedly wonderful recipe. I had to brand two batches because I kept eating them earlier I could set them out. On the second batch I cut the sugar in half, simply my ain preference. When I ran out of hot dogs, I threw in some chopped onion and jalepenos and fried me upwards a batch of hush puppies. It was a lilliputian sweet for the hush puppies simply they were of a texture(light and fluffy) that I have been seeking. Definitely will employ this recipe again for Corndogs and Hush Puppies! TY!

I'k no corn canis familiaris connoiseur, but very easy & kids loved 'em! I very rarely swallow hot dogs, but ate this with honey, mustard, & ketchup. Used mason jar to dip & refrigerated concoction prior to use & dried off hot dogs to assist it stick. Rotated hot dog with concoction in frying pan of hot oil; washed in less than a minute. Very fun to do with kids & sentry puff up:) Oh, did not utilize pepper.

This was an awesome recipe- my kids pounded them. I didn't have to coat the hot dogs at all earlier I dipped them and to brand it more than "kid friendly", so they wouldn't poke each other, I just cut the hot dogs in half and dipped them in the batter. I don't think I will be buying corn dogs anymore, these are much meliorate! Give thanks you lot for this recipe.

Suzzanna, I won't even bother looking for whatever other recipe for corn dogs. This recipe is absolutely fantastic and authentic! I likewise learned a couple things while making this recipe. 1) the sugar is admittedly essential lol. I went a chip lite on the saccharide, and while it was good, I won't skimp on the sugar once more. two) Gold Bread Crumbs are a great substitute for the corn meal. The showtime couple of times I made this recipe, I didn't have corn repast on paw, so I used "Golden Breadstuff Crumbs" instead. I used a less saccharide while making this recipe with staff of life crumbs though. I wish I could give this recipe a higher rating than 5 stars - You really deserve a higher rating. Thank you for a great recipe!

This was tasty and fairly easy to piece of work with. I did have trouble getting it to stick to the dog, but I suppose that's normal. I froze them for quick snacks for my married man. Mine turned out a lot prettier than the ones in the flick, also.

These were good and surprisingly easy to brand! I merely dried the hot dogs with a newspaper towel - no flour or corn starch needed. I believe my oil was a little on the hot side at 375 (I fry everything at 375). They browned as well quickly so I volition definitely lower it to approx 365 as someone else suggested. Even at 375 they yet came out wonderful.

So crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Thank you so much.

This was excellent. My husband and kids loved information technology. I made a gluten free version using our special flours. Otherwise nosotros did everything as stated. I had to add a niggling bit more liquid because our flour made it a bit thick. Two thumbs upwardly!

Suzzanna yous are my hero! I Honey THESE CORNDOGS!!! Fantastic. I've already had a request for more and it's upward for our memorial twenty-four hours family gather. I have made these many times and my family unit insists these corn dogs are better than the commercial ones. I've tried the suggestion of lightly dusting the wieners with cornstarch to go the coating to stick, only it was very messy and unnecessary. I found that but blotting the wieners on paper towels to remove any excess moisture works the best.

Great recipe!!! I found I similar the batter thicker. The thinner the batter the thinner the out come of the crust on the canis familiaris. Overall I love this recipe and will use over and over over again. Thank you!!!
